Tim Bohlender, Tanja Goetzmann and Nozomi Tanabe examine the serial as an artistic principle. Tanja Goetzmann's ceramic shells negotiate variations between function, form and materiality. Tim Bohlender's paintings repeatedly create the unusual through reflections, minimal deviations and small disturbances in his graphic elements. Nozomi Tanabe's carved facial fragments reflect history and society very fundamentally in their repetition as something that functions through imitation and adaptation.
The three artistic positions - ceramics, painting and wood relief - create exciting transitions between surface, volume and gesture in dialog. Serial work is not understood as mere repetition, but as a poetic-analytical process that creates order and undermines it at the same time.
